I don't think it would take *that* much effort.  At OpenCF Summit in
Feb, we had a Open Spaces talk about a guy that that the OpenBD and
Railo installers and wrapped them in a .deb package.  It's just a matter
of adding that to the build process and getting package maintainer at
each target OS to sponsor a new package in the mainlines.
