Simplying the install would make a big difference. Getting things up and running without Tomcat crapping out is a barrier that, I'm sure, keeps many from discovering the ease of CFML.
Getting support from the likes cPanel, etc would help to. If added OpenBD to a VPS was as simple as enabling in cPanel it would open things to more end-users as well as developers.
