Hey Travis, let me answer some of these for you.

The Desktop version is getting a overhaul (which i am nearly finished). There is a Windows installer coming for those that want a more traditional Tomcat/IIS type of configuration. Alex demonstrated how easy this was in OpenCFSummit, so maybe we should do a video. Good idea.

As for the long term goal of OpenBD, that is a very simple question to answer: to service the needs of our community and provide the features they want. We follow no one but you.

Our business model is not like the other engines, we don't need to follow anyone to keep our $$$ coming in, we follow what the community ask for. We don't need to make money from OpenBD; we all have our day jobs that keeps food on the table, so to that end, we make decisions based on what we hear from you, not what effects our turnover (as OpenBD has no turnover, as it is not a company/business).

That is why everything we do in OpenBD is open sourced under GPL. Nothing is held back.

I have some questions on OpenBD...

1.) Right now, I'm using OpenBD Desktop, since it is so simple to get
up and running. I remember not to long ago there was a Windows
installer for OpenBD, but as of version 2.0 that is no longer
available. Well this be coming back? I think the manual installation
of the Java WAR/Tomcat, and the configuration, will scare a lot of new
people off. Maybe a YouTube video of the entire installation process
would be beneficial (for both development and production purposes)?

2.) What is the goal of OpenBD long term (feature wise)? To match what
Adobe and Railo are doing? I know both of them support ORM (something
I personally don't even use nor want to). I was wondering if OpenBD
will continue to add unique features to its platform. One thing that I
really don't understand with Adobe ColdFusion is stuff like Office
integration; they have zero support for doc/docx manipulation, and
their spreadsheet integration is for the old binary XLS format.
