That makes perfect sense, thanks for the information... really is a different way of thinking. I heard somewhere that ColdFusion 10 was going to change their client side JavaScript (Ext JS) to jQuery. But I doubt that will happen with their new release, which will go along with what you've said (locking in versions). I've read that they wont even do simple changes like replacing CKEditor with a newer edition.
Which brings up a question... what open-source libraries does OpenBD use? I'm guessing the newest version of Apache POI for the spreadsheet manipulation? Probably another open source library for charting, etc. I came across this the other day: http://www.docx4java.org/trac/docx4j and it looks like something that OpenBD could take advantage of. Looks like it is a Java clone of Microsoft's Open XML SDK which can manipulate the new XML formats of Word, Excel, and Powerpoint files. I know that Apache POI's Word manipulation is currently dead. One thing that I think it a very nifty and cool feature of OpenBD that will draw people to it is the Desktop version. Nothing quite compares to it in the CFML world with how easy it is to work with. I tried using Railo the other day, and it is just a complete 180 from OpenBD/ ACF... I really had no idea what I was doing. -- online documentation: http://openbd.org/manual/ google+ hints/tips: https://plus.google.com/115990347459711259462 http://groups.google.com/group/openbd?hl=en
