Hey Alex, I think we talked about this before didn't we? Maybe we didn't and it was someone else I was talking with about the same subject.
The issue with this is that the mod_cfml Tomcat valve that creates the context is utilizing the same libraries as the Tomcat Host Manager. The Host Manager doesn't have the ability (currently) to create directory contexts within each host. The Apache bit of the mod_cfml stack can read the virtual directories okay (and I have no doubt BonCode can as well), but there's no corresponding functionality in Tomcat, so this is currently not possible until the functionality exists in Tomcat. Until it is, you'll still need to create the directory contexts manually. If you want to get your Java hands dirty, I have no doubt that if you submitted a patch to the Tomcat host manager that the Tomcat folks would evaluate it. They've been very open to the idea of patches when I've spoken with them. Most folks are. =) -Jordan ----- Original Message ----- From: "Alex Skinner" <[email protected]> To: [email protected] Sent: Wednesday, April 4, 2012 5:24:45 AM Subject: Re: [OpenBD] OpenBD 2.0.2 Windows Installer RC Jordan, The installers are looking really good! Can i ask you a question about context paths ? As you know the document root is passed over from the Boncode connector and picked up by the valve. The main thing thats preventing me rolling out mod_cfml is that I have virtual directories on my webserver that have to have corresponding Context paths on my host, these obviously do not get automagically created. Is there any way that the valve could have an additional config file that we could put info like this in for it to pick it up ? Or get boncode to send over info about virtual directories at their corresponding actual paths. Of course I can just use the installer and then manually setup my tomcat hosts but the nice thing about mod_cfml is that doesn't require a tomcat restart. (IE: you are no longer required to right-click and select "run as administrator". Instead, you just click the "Yes" button on the UAC prompt.) Huge "Thanks" to Matt, Ben, and John for your help in reviewing the BETA and making this release better then it would have been otherwise! -- Warm Regards, Jordan Michaels -- online documentation: http://openbd.org/manual/ google+ hints/tips: https://plus.google.com/ 115990347459711259462 http://groups.google.com/ group/openbd?hl=en -- online documentation: http://openbd.org/manual/ google+ hints/tips: https://plus.google.com/115990347459711259462 http://groups.google.com/group/openbd?hl=en -- Alex Skinner Managing Director Pixl8 Interactive Tel: +448452600726 Email: [email protected] Web: pixl8.co.uk -- online documentation: http://openbd.org/manual/ google+ hints/tips: https://plus.google.com/115990347459711259462 http://groups.google.com/group/openbd?hl=en -- online documentation: http://openbd.org/manual/ google+ hints/tips: https://plus.google.com/115990347459711259462 http://groups.google.com/group/openbd?hl=en
