Yes. It is a Solaris server.
I usually handle such issue by renaming the file in the upload step...
replacing all "umlaut" with ae / oe etc and make sure (if the name will
be stored in the DB you use the converted naming form.

My problem is, that I if I set "destination" to a directory, then I can
no longer access my file as I get those question marks in the target
path and if I set it to a target file path, then "cffile" no longer
contains the file name, sent by the browser...
Is there some way to get the file name before using cffile?
