Hello Marcus, Maybe you should take a look at Cartweaver. https://www.cartweaver.com/welcome-to-cartweaver/ At the last opencfsummit Michael Evangelista gave me a quick demo of the web cart and it seemed pretty feature packed. It might have a few things you want to emulate or there could be some features you see it lacks.
