While both of your points are mostly true but they miss the fact that the
official website guides a new user and possible new adopter to a dead end.
They also assume that the new user who wishes to evaluate the software has the
luxury of time to spend “figuring it out yourself” before even getting to the
actual task of building a site.

Experience has taught me (and I am embarrassingly old) that if you wish to
increase the adoption of a software product then the installation of that
product must be as simple and fast as possible. The official website took the
first step in that endeavor but essentially leads the Windows user to the
belief that the software will not install on a windows platform. Something we
both know is untrue.

With open source software increased adoption generally leads to better more
rounded software as community input on the core of the software then informs
the developers. Right now the lack of a windows installer on the official
website actually dissuades the windows users from installing the product.
Something I have direct experience in since trying to steer others to the
product.

It is my hope that you change your mind, change your website or enlist others
to "officially" help in this endeavor. Because I see it as a key issue for
fostering increased adoption on the Windows platform.

Also, there's plenty of documentation out there about how to set it up. Between
the existing available installers (which might not be using most current
Openbd), and available info via google, if you're determined to get it working,
you can.

Plus, figuring it out yourself will teach you about IIS and give you a better
understanding of how it all works together, which will be helpful if you're
ever troubleshooting a problem down the line, when you have sites online (or
possibly offline because something went haywire).

The installers have been maintained by others - Jordan may still be maintaining
them

I can't wait....well to be truthful I actually can but really don't want to.
All sarcasm and flippancy aside, is this something that is going happen any
time soon? I am trying to steer some people toward it but without an installer
they are very fearful.

Thank you for your time.
