Package: perl
Priority: standard
Section: perl
Installed-Size: 11032
Maintainer: Brendan O'Dea <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
Architecture: i386
Version: 5.8.2-2

Provides: [...] libdigest-md5-perl [...]

It still is preferable to depend on libdigest-md5-perl, that way it is
easier to get the package working under Debian/stable (woody) (where
it is a separate package).

My changes were only:
* creating the debian directory files in the debian directory.
* modifying modules/Makefile not to build 3rd party modules in Debian.
* modifying modules/Makefile to install perl modules in Debian directory.

If you have my debian/rules, I suspect you will already have all of
these changes.

Since then Alessandro Razeto has taken over, I believe he identified
and fixed some issues that I haven't. You will have to ask him for
details.
