OK, so I finally managed to get the current OpenCA version built. I even
managed to initialise the CA server after much difficulty (I really think it's a
Bad Idea to rely on an obsolete (and alpha at that!) version of openssl here,
but that may be only my opinion).
Then, following the instructions in the INSTALL-0.8 document, I got to the
"Generating Certificates" part. Among other things, it says:
> Use the scripts provided in the distribution that you untarred for OpenCA
> ./scripts
>
> use:
> sh openca-newcert to generate a new cert for the RA operator. Note that
the
> Organizational Unit Name you type has to match one of those specified in
> the RAChoiceBaseSheet option of
./src/cgi-bin/cgi-raserver/conf/raserver.conf.in
> (before your ran configure).
... but when I do this, I get
> Importing request into DB ... /usr/bin/openca-newcrt: /usr/bin/openca-addreq:
> No such file or directory
> Done.
... and the script continued on its merry way.
Much as I try, I can't find any program named openca-addreq anywhere.
Furthermore, the only file in the whole source tree with the string
"openca-addreq" in it is, yep, you guessed it, openca-newcrt. I even checked the
earliest 0.8 version at the site (20010530) and found the same thing. I'd have
tried a search of the mail archives, but geocrawler's search engine seems to
have failed and the site doesn't seem to be maintained any more.
So, what to do? Where do I get openca-addreq?
.....Ron
P.S. It might be an idea to check return values of programs run from the script,
just in case they fail (as in this one).
