I have run ldconfig : -)
and I have set $ORACLE_HOME
ORACLE_HOME=/home/oracle/oracle/product/10.2.0/client_1
in /etc/profile
but it doesn't work :-(
what can I still do?

yes, but you must run ldconfig have the system rebuild the dynamic
linker
configuration.
You will need the other Oracle environment settings in addition to this,
so my advice to include the environment file still is valid.
