p.s.
install_driver(Oracle) failed: Can't load '/usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.5/i586-linux-thread-multi/auto/DBD/Oracle/Oracle.so'

this file is where it has to be, as "file" command shows

# file /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.5/i586-linux-thread-multi/auto/DBD/Oracle/Oracle.so /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.5/i586-linux-thread-multi/auto/DBD/Oracle/Oracle.so: ELF 32-bit LSB shared object, Intel 80386, version 1 (SYSV), not stripped

Hi,

I have copied
/home/oracle/oracle/product/10.2.0/client_1/lib
in /etc/ld.so.conf.
then the system should know where the Library are.
correct?

yes, but you must run ldconfig have the system rebuild the dynamic
linker
configuration.
You will need the other Oracle environment settings in addition to this,
so my advice to include the environment file still is valid.
