Hi all:
I'm about to start a research project that is investigating the possibility
of using open source tools to establish a PKI and use it to provide
authentication and other security for a critical infrastructure project.
(Short version: I am setting up a PKI to support another research project).
My search for documentation on OpenCA turned up very little, and I also see
little indicating OpenCA is still developed. I finally found some very old
docs at http://albert.openca.org/openca/docs/. Unfortunately, all the
graphics are missing, impairing their understandability.
I've been lurking here for a while, and found a note about OpenXPKI. All my
googling previously had not turned up OpenXPKI. So, my questions:
Is OpenCA actively under development?
Is OpenXPKI actively under development?
OpenXPKI appears to be a fork of OpenCA. Why? What was the goal of the
fork?
Do OpenXPKI and OpenCA aim at the same goals?
Is either one mature enough to begin attempting to use?
And finally, for either one:
Is there documentation (other than what I mentioned above) on how to design,
setup, and use either product?
Thanks!
