> Anthony: ... you could always use LinuxPPC.
> Alain: Does LinuxPPC require MacOS-X ?

MP0werd: No. It's not OS dependent, it's a completely
different OS.

Alain: Just to be sure that I understand, you are
saying that I can run an entirely different OS with my
PowerMac G3. Is that the case?

MP0werd: Yes! Even if you didn't have the MacOS, there's a program that will
modify the open firmware to boot linuxPPC instead of macOS. Theoretically,
you could put LinuxPPC on and throw MacOS out the window. In reality, I
wouldn't suggest it, it's always nice to have two operating systems in case
one fails.

MP0werd: I think so, it was a snap to setup and use
for me ...

Alain: Were you quite familiar with UNIX?

MP0werd: Not really, I just adapt to operating systems well. I learnt DOS
without the manual, although I must confess, to do powerful stuff with Linux,
you WILL need a manuel. On a side note, if you like scripting languages like
perl and TCL, you'll like linux, because it has these kinds of languages
within the installation, and it has powerful tools like grep to work with
regexp.
