Hmmm... I have an idea for our mailing list: How about going to NNTP? We
could run INN on the box. AFAIK, the interface of MTNW is _far_ better for
the types of discussions we have than Eudora (or any other mail client).
Imagine -- real threading!

And, since we'd be running our own server, no need for any incomming feed
to us or outgoing feed from us, and thus no spam which normally plauges
Usenet (and was the reason we rejected NNTP last time).

No need to worry about subscriptions. No bounces. No admins getting ticked
off at problematic mail addresses. No propagation problmes; only one server.

Easily scalable if we ever do get more than one server; proven to scale to
tens of thousands.

No need to download mail you don't want. Filtering before downloading. No
cluttered mailboxes. Binary posts easily done; no need to download if you
don't want to.

No need to worry about archiving -- just have no expiry.

Possible to build a netnews->email gateway; probably possible to download one.

I think this would be a _big_ improvement. And certainly worth the effort
required to move any archives.
