I don't know what you mean by "blame your distro for not setting up
something properly". The driver was compiled from svn since it did not
exist at the time Ubuntu Jaunty 9.04 came out and I wrote the xorg.conf
file myself. I think you must be confused about what you are talking
about. Anyway, do you know if the NC20 laptop you have runs on via or
openchrome driver? Also, which ones are the memory copy benchmark numbers
you are mentioning?
