David Thompson: |>ScatterData has significant problems. Here's a picture of what I see: |> |> http://home.nc.rr.com/rhh/TMP/ScatterData.JavaDX.gif | |Did you look at your java console window within Netscape to see if it |was giving you any warnings or errors? I still do not see any of the |problems you are having with Netscape on Windows or RH Linux 7.1. |Once in a while, I do get Netscape to freeze launching the JVM within |Netscape (but that's entirely different). When I look at my scattered |data, it looks a lot different. Take a look at |<http://jumbo.cs.umt.edu/~dthompsn/scatter.jpg> and you can see what |I mean.
Here's the Java console output (Netscape 4.79 for IRIX) when the ScatterData.html page loads. All the widgets are disabled and I get: Netscape Communications Corporation -- Java 1.1.5 Type '?' for options. IBM Visualization Data Explorer / Java Explorer version 2.0.0 and after 30 seconds of startserver/java 100% CPU: Error: Unable to start Data Explorer If I reenter the page, the last line repeats immediately even through the CPU again maxes for 30 seconds. If I don't startserver, I instead see: Netscape Communications Corporation -- Java 1.1.5 Type '?' for options. DXClient: Couldn't get I/O for IBM Visualization Data Explorer / Java Explorer version 2.0.0 DXClient: Couldn't get I/O for The above results are by pointing Netscape at the html/jar files via a file:/path URL BTW. If I crank up a web server on my local box, put the JavaDX examples at: http://ralph:9000/JAVADX/ScatterData.html (incl. .jar, etc.) and try to load the ScatterData sample from a local browser, I get the same result. Same result if I try it from Linux with 4.79 or 6.22, except that with 6.22 the version number is different: Java(TM) Plug-in: Version 1.3.1_02 Using JRE version 1.3.1_02 Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM ...
