Rob,

You shouldn't have to upgrage libstdc++, or remove the egcs-c++ package,
just install the required version of libstdc++.  Morover, the last I
remember it is included with the DX rpm, so you should be able to get by
with simply copying it to /usr/lib.

If I've mis-spoke, please feel free to correct me.
