Thomas, Thank you for the hint. Instead of upgrading libstdc++, I've installed it and (to my big surprise) it just co-exists with the older version of libstdc++!!! Instead of "rpm -Uhv ...", I've now done the "rpm -ihv ...". I'm sorry, I have had such bad experiences muddling up libraries, that I was double careful what I had to do here. OpenDX 4.0.10 runs fine now on my linux PC (along with all my other applications). Thanks for the help. Rob.
