That was an interesting theory but doesn't seem to pan out. I didn't rename the script, and couldn't remember why I was typing opendx once you asked. I now remember it was transitional, since we had 3.1.4 up while testing early opendx's, so we could still type dx and get some work done. Now, the latest 4.1 install is using the fresh-out-of-the-tar stuff: no renaming or other weirdness, and I can type dx to get the 4.1 startupui (took 3.1.4 out of all paths and such), and it still gives the "Word too long" error. Anybody know any big words that DX doesn't understand? Persnickety? Fractious? I am more suspicious that it's a 32 bit, 64 bit thing on Irix. What do you think Jeff?
