Jeff: here's my reply to Pete's questions. I seem to be having the
identical problem as Susan, with slightly different software versions.
I have not tried javadx: the problems are simply writing ImageMagick file
formats from Save Image...

ImageMagick 5.2 (just downloaded from opendx and installed: new
LD_LIBRARY_PATH that includes only the new directory: yes, we had older IM
installed, but this and changes to $path should be masking that version
off).

Irix 6.5.? (Software manager only tells me 6.5). I think it's 6.5.5.
Running on Indigo2.

I can't remember how to start this up and connect to it from the UI
(connect to already running server doesn't). Reminder?

YES

YES (jpg and gif break connection)

Do you get the intermediate .miff file?

YES
And convert in the shell makes a gif from this miff.

POSSIBLY if I screwed up somehow in setting paths.
