It turns out that the samples file was corrupt.  I downloaded the file twice 
and each time it wouldn't install.  At that point I sent the E-mail.  I 
downloaded it a third time last night and it installed with no problem.

Ummm... I'm just baffled by this.  Usually rpm gives more output than
this, that's what the v is for.  Can you post the complete message?

For that matter try

rpm -Uvvh opendx-samples-4.1.3-1.noarch.rpm

for more debugging info...

Ps.  I'm currently using these rpms on two different RH 7.1 boxes and they
work just fine.  (samples and all)
