Thanks for the replies on this subject - I got opendx working on win32. Success was achieved by doing 'rm -rf /usr/local/bin/dx /usr/local/dx', downloading opendx-4.1.3-2-WIN32-setup.zip, and installing it in the place of opendx-4.1.3-cygwin.tar.gz. This is with the latest versions of cygwin and cygwin/xfree86.
I tried upgrading to the latest (as of today) version of cygwin first, but it made no difference with the "MacroDefinition.C" error for the opendx-4.1.3-cygwin.tar.gz package. Since I think these users will only be using OpenDX interactively, the compiler is probably a non-issue, and if it is later it's easier for us to buy Visual C++ than it is to buy a (cheaper) commercial X server. I had chosen opendx-4.1.3-cygwin.tar.gz to begin with because I thought cygwin<->cygwin would be the path of least resistance, which has turned out not to be true in this case. I'm glad to hear that it is possible to build OpenDX on win32 using lesstif. I may still try and find out what is behind the "MacroDefinition.C" error. regards, Kevin > -----Original Message----- > From: Kevin Moore [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] > > Hi, > > I've been using OpenDX on a RedHat machine with great success (thanks > much to the advice I've been plucking from the archives of this > list), and now some of my Windows colleagues would like to try > it, so I've gone ahead and installed Cygwin 1.3.2, XFree86 4.1.0, > and OpenDX 4.1.3 on a Win2k machine (SP1). > > After successfully figuring out the tcsh.exe vs. csh.exe issue > and (I think) getting the paths correct, I've run into a wall > with trying to edit or run programs.
