When you open an "old program" then the vpe remains empty too (OpenDX on
an Alpha XP-1000 running Tru64 compiled with gcc). The first "pass"
(after starting dx) works. I'm currently try to find find out why (it
does not seem to be the gcc-compiler both 2.95 and 3.0.1 give the same
unpleasant result). The problem is that I'm not very familiar with C let
alone the C++ garbage. OpenDX finds the right file, succeeds in opening
it but (I GUESS) fails to store the results after parsing (when there is
already an open vpe window). Quiting DX and opening from the "console"
works.

groetjes
