Subject: Re: [opendx-users] anyone running MacOSX ?
(Hello again)
With much help from friend Richard G., I just got it built and running, from the CVS.
There were a number of little twists and turns, but being a true Mac believer, I think we should jointly describe the exact steps, so others can join in. Do you want to go first, since if there is a built FINK version, it might save doing some of the little diddly stuff we had to do? Thanks.
After getting it running, it works quite well, though h/w rendering has bad artifacts above a certain polygon count (~100K, but that's not a definite number) on my Rage card. However, the same object with roughly 1million polys renders OK in software (naturally much slower to rotate, etc.). And below the "bad" number, h/w rendering worked very nicely.
We also have installed user-written modules thanks to info from Dave Thompson (received to me via Richard G.), so I'm hoping to start doing a lot of my DX work on the Mac that had been done on Windows (sort of, since I've had mondo problems with Windows since XP/SP1 was installed).
