@ Raphael/OCA: I agreee totally with you. I'm a big fan of transparency and tight monitoring as well. So far it is not easy and even less commonly accepted on how to monitor the Issue fixing activity of the whole ecosystem. That is bad. Transparency (as a process desgin maxime) would be really good. There must be some reporting modules arround the web to get sucha a functionality on the OCA page, then invite end users and potential customers to read thos (EASY READABLE) reports and make it a marketing instrument. Like this we probably will never have issues on that any more in the future. Testing, and coverage are equally important arguments in a OSS evaluation, or might be used as strong arguments in the selling process. Look, I think from a systemic managmeent perspective and I see some flaws in the ecosystem and try to find integral systemic solutions. This is what I learned and what big Consulting Firms arround the world would probably charge 1500-2500 $/day for. I feel bad on argumenting like this. I feel like I'm communicating sometimes in a way or context, that the ideas behind it are probably not clearly seen, so I thought probably some context might be useful, I hope. My fault for inefficient communications anyway ;)
@Odony: I eagerly and crtitically accompany your great work. Even if I am critical (also in the way of expressing myself), I still share the same vision and the same goals. With due resepct, I don't feel offended by what you said, but I think, again, transparency is my plight. Probably, If you can make a friendly statment towards the community anytime soon about the actual state of things, many would be thankful, and hopefully the following will be obsolete and just for the record: - I signed in via the "Start Now link" on www.odoo.com the afternoon UTC-5: Odoo logo, new variants mechanism - I signed in via the "Start Now link" on www.odoo.com at night UTC-5: OpenERP logo, old variants mechanism Probably there is still a way, that I have been confused, but if it is so, I feel quite happy and sane having been confused ;-) - You already know, I'm still rebellishly reluctant to some odoo way of thinking (eg. 'Naming of "Usability" in Settings') ;) - I think it is rather rare that a newbie shouts out that loud, before he himself feels more expert among experts and probably becomes rutine-blinded, too. V8 anyhow will be a great product! I just sometimes feel there is a notion of battle between Odoo (defendant) and Community (agressor) in many ways. I might imagine you as a community manager might have a hard time, briding this GAP and I hope you strongly advocate a "good community" notion internally among developers. I hope highest managment in Grand Rosiere will think alike and only speak in the best words about community internally. If not your time might be even harder. This is an analysis and interpretation from what I see about what could happen internally in Odoo, and what I could imagine could be an issue. As it is inferred based on publicly available information, it is prone to error, as well I understand that your are not supposed to discuss such things publically, but I as an external at least can give my opinion. Hope this shows my motivation to identify and solve problems systemically (the problems behind the problems), and i this time also got it right on the relashonship layer <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Four-sides_model> of communication... Regards
