The GTK, Web and Koo clients, each, use a different implementation of the RPC layer. Custom client applications (POS, agent workers, ETL, connectors) also have even more implementations of RPC. The idea [1] was to standardize this layer, implement it in a different, common project. Another argument is, that if we want to scr^H^H change the protocol in 6.1/6.2, a common library would be easier to adapt, a single point of conformance.
