1.) Kylix is *NOT* open sourced. It is entirely proprietary and sneers on 
standards akin with MS products. Complete vendor-lock-in if you use it.

2.) Borland has *NOT* abandoned Interbase. More than two years ago it looked 
as if they would, they released it into open source, saw the huge interest, 
and immediately withdrew - but leaving FireBird behind which has now a life 
of it's own. Maybe a win-win here: the free software community has FireBird, 
and Borland gets free maintenance and development feedback into Interbase.
