RH 8 could not use power management of my Viewsonic LCD displays in my exam rooms, which FC 1 fixed. I don't know what the bug was. Furthermore, some display color-flicker issues on one system that I thought were due to a bad display have disappeared with FC1, perhaps due to an improved driver. (Michael says, "Duh. I don't know.") My Thinkpad has been going to sleep reliably with RH 8, but I haven't done FC 1 yet to test this. My (wife's) Dell Inspiron has not been able to awake from sleep with RH 7.2, and we haven't tested whether this is better with FC1. Michael told me that the sleep-wake capabilities are in the kernel, and when he told me this (in Red Hat 7 era), getting laptops to go to sleep and awaken properly was not real high on the kernel group's list of urgent problems.
