its database engine). The drug database web-engine is
written in python (using the drugref project engine
which uses PostgreSQL as the database engine). OSCAR
is a very complex project. It is certainly capable of
being deployed in very large and distributed clinics.
My clinic has about 75 networked PC's and will soon
increase to 115. Scheduling is very complex also given
the large number of multi-disciplinary providers and
learners. The homeless project team (CAISI) from
Toronto is contributing very significantly to the Case
Management applications whereas the BC Users group
have been developing the Chronic Disease Management
applications. Re database schema - it is somewhat of
a moving target and we are quite short handed (and
probably always will be) to do proper documentation.
My daughter is rewriting the Users Manual this summer
based on the Content Management System Plone so we can
attract more technical writers. Anyways, I wish I
could hire Fred to move OSCAR to the US but I am not
very business minded. Someone will have to do that.
Troy from oscarUSA came to McMaster to get training
but I am afraid he has pretty much forked the code
now.
