The next release is "not too far off at all" in Open Source
terms.

I would not expect the "average open source user" to be able
to setup a reliable networked EMR for my practice (I'm a
doctor, too, even I would delegate that job).

GNUmed is a true client-server application. A user needs to
run a client on their machine. They also need a PostgreSQL
database to connect to. To ease this process we offer a
bootable CD which is configured to connect to a public
database reachable over the internet. This is, of course,
slow. All the pertinent information can be gleaned from our
