Let me just add, in general, that the project really only moves forward
based on contributions.  It seems that nobody is interested in this area
because there are no contributions and no one volunteers to maintain it.

Historically, I think much of this was developed by IBM who had a
stronger interest in SNMP-based devices.  IBM apparently chose to stop
investing in OpenHPI some time ago, so their developers stopped
contributing to the project.  While the individual engineers (especially
Renier and Peter) have been responsive to off-list questions when
necessary, they are just following the investment choices of their
employer.

We may want to consider a process to move such pieces to an
"unsupported" designation, or remove them entirely.  It is unfortunate
when new people try to use portions of OpenHPI that no longer work or
are actively developed.
