I really like how Brian framed this.

Good input Pamela. Historically we’ve had a hard time getting criti cal mass on Committees and determined that we’d try to limit the ini tial number of them. That said, any committee can form subcommittee s to support their objectives. For example, the Adoption Committee is already forming a Online Retailer subcommittee chaired by Rob Har les of Sears since adoption by retailers may have specific needs bey ond general RP adoption. If the Adoption committee determines that a UX subcommittee is worthwhile and can be adequately staffed, that’ s great. But we want to be clear that the overall goal is Adoption, not UX, not marketing. UX and Marketing exist to drive Adoption, w hich is a top priority for 2010. My hope is the Adoption Committee, with strong leadership and input from existing and prospective RPs, will help us determine the areas that the OIDF needs to focus on mo st to drive adoption, then we’ll allocate members/volunteers/subcomm ittees and OIDF resources to support those stated needs.

Cheers,

Brian

In looking at the wiki, I assume that the originally proposed Usability Committee has been rolled into the Adoption Committee? Personally I think that the work products of usability and adoption are not that closely aligned.

My apologies if this discussion has already resolved itself before I was added to these lists, I just wonder that usability isn't a first- order subject to tackle.

Thanks,

Pamela

ps - speaking of usability, the pbwiki currently displays no hint that it supports OpenID on either the main page header or the registration page - a user must magically know to skip the "create an account" link and go directly to the login page where the openid link finally appears....

Hi John,

Good question, I’d ask that anyone who is a member of any of the com mittees who would like to serve as a Chair or Vice Chair, would star t the process of organizing their committee by emailing all the comm ittee members and facilitate the process of having that committee el ect its chair and vice chair. I have started that process with the members of the Adoption Committee and have talked with Daniel, Rob, and Marc who have agreed to serve in the listed positions if the res t of the members approve. If there are other members of the committ ee who would like to serve as chair or vice chair, we’ll have a simi lar discussion to what we did for the Executive Committee, and if ne cessary have a vote.

So anyone who is interested in being a chair or vice chair of any committee, now is your chance to share that desire with the rest of the members of the committee and get your committee organized. Once you’ve selected a chair and vice chair, I’d ask each committee to update their portion of the Committee home page and to create or mod ify existing pages for that specific committee. For example, the ol d Marketing Committee page has been converted and updated to the new Adoption Committee page: https://openid.pbworks.com/Adoption-Committee

By the way John, I added you to as a potential chair/vice chair to the Security and Government Committees, hope that’s OK. Realistical ly since Mike Ozburn lives in DC and is focused on the government, i t seems like he might be the most reasonable candidate for the Chair . But that’s up to the Security Committee to figure out.

As Don said, we want to distribute more of the leadership of the OIDF to the committees, now is the time so show that we can make that happen.

Thanks in advance to everyone who steps up.

Cheers,

Brian

Brian,

Without chairs elected what is the process for calling committee meetings to elect chairs?

Hello All,

Following up on our meeting last week, I’ve updated the OIDF Committ ee Wiki at https://openid.pbworks.com/Committees I’ve also taken a stab at suggesting possible chair, vice-chair, and members for each committee. Ultimately it’s up to each committee to select their cha ir and vice-chair, but I wanted to jump start the process. When you review the list, please inform me or the entire list of the followi ng:

1. Which committees you would like to be on, if you’re not alr eady listed

2. Which committees you’re listed on that you don’t want to be on

3. Which committees you’d be willing to serve as chairman or v ice-chairman on.

You can update this yourself on the wiki or let me know and I’ll mak e the updates.

Cheers,

Brian
