Bitrot cannot be avoided... unless code is part of something that is used and living it will turn to crap, not be known about, etc. A large collection of small aging unmaintained applets is not as great as it might sound. If you're going to spend any time on this, it needs to be part of production test that we can all run, especially Regina and Wendy.
