SparkFun as always overpriced, but the board does work with OpenOCD.
It hasn't been perfect for me, but it does work. LPC17 has the
advantage that they have both JTAG and SWD, as opposed only SWD for
many other Cortex-M3 parts.

I've used it, it works, it's not perfect. You may have to power cycle
to get working communication.

It is an outstanding target if you have will to contribute to
OpenOCD, because I believe the part exercises some of the code which
can be improved.

Make sure that you also get a well supported JTAG adapter. I've used
FT2232-based adapters with the LPC1768, but I haven't yet used the
Versaloon. I wouldn't mind trying that as well, for comparison.
