What *does* help the project is the top-notch help desk function provided
by Paul, so if he thinks supporting users will be difficult if they are not
prepared to build OpenOCD from source, then that opinion weighs heavily if
the project is going to give recommendations.
On the other hand I don't think the alternatives are mutually exclusive. Of
course there are Windows users who out of convenience choose a binary
package such as Freddie's or yours, but still would gladly setup MSYS2 and
build from source if prompted by Paul, when they need help.
A solution might be to update documentation to hint about binary and source
package alternatives, and include a support clause that makes it clear that
the MSYS2 builds are expected if you want help.
