You should just use the "Reply All" option; that's
how to issue public replies to mailing list posts.

If the list forced a "Reply-To" then it'd be really
painful to issue private "just to the author" replies.

You're certain of this?  Have an LPCxpresso in hand, I guess;
otherwise you might not know that file name...

Such policies can generally be changed.  I can understand
they would want to safeguard investments they, and their
partners, have made.  But such safeguards shouldn't need to
last forever.

Plus, ISTR that IDE doesn't run on Linux.  :(
