Welcome, everyone, to the April Open Organization Ambassadors Report.
April was quite a busy month for all of us! At Opensource.com, we
published 10 articles on open organizational topics, and these generated
13,991 total page views. In April, open organization ambassadors
contributed 60 percent of those stories—a number that makes us
extraordinarily proud!
We're excited to see what May will bring, and we look forward to seeing
the ambassadors at our May 18 meeting!

#### {4} Monthly Highlights ####

On April 21, the open organization ambassadors published the next
version of their official Open Organization Definition [1]. The document
explains the five principles that are characteristic of an open
organization. The April 21 update adds language describing key attitudes
and behaviors that are critical for successful operation of an open
organization.

The community is hard at work on its next volume of the _Open
Organization_ book series from Opensource.com. This edition, the _Guide
to IT Culture Change_, will be released June 2, 2017 [2]. Opensource.com
editors are compiling it according to the principles outlined in the
Open Decision Framework.

Open organization ambassador Jen Kelchner launched her company's new
podcast, "Generation Open," in April [3]. Ambassador Sam Knuth was one
of the first guests on the podcast when he discussed "assuming positive
intent" in open organizations.

#### {5} Looking Ahead ####
###########################
The next live ambassador meeting will occur May 18, 2017, at the usual
time (10:00 Eastern / 15:00 UTC). The agenda is now live and it awaits
additions from participants [1].

Work on the next volume of the _Open Organization_ book series continues
apace. In April, editors worked to help contributors revise and finalize
their chapters; in May, they'll work to get everything into production.
Near-daily updates are still occurring at the project's GitHub
repository [2]. Be sure to stop by if you'd like to get involved (help
with proofreading especially welcome right now!)

At the next ambassador meeting, participants should prepare to consider
the next phase of work on the Open Organization Definition. As our
working document indicates [3], we're now primed to tackle Phase 3 of
the project: operationalizing the competencies we've described into a
working maturity model. At the meeting, we'll determine whether the
group would still like to pursue this goal.
