Ops, "spp" should be actually "ssp" (fixed in gcc-3.3.2-20030122 and
higher now) and it stands for the IBM Stack-Smashing Protection patch
for GCC. with_ssp=yes adds -fstack-protector to GCC which in turn
can be used to build applications with the stack-smashing protection
functionality.
