I looked back at this thread because I think I'm going to reimplement the multiplier in my core, so it's a good time for me to do this. What I'll do is implement the modifications I talked about in this thread (including the wide multiplication instruction), make sure it's doable in hardware with efficient resource usage, then write up a description of how I did it and why I made the choices I made, including whatever ISA changes I settled on. -Pete
