Thanks a lot to the team for fixing detection issues. A remaining problem, not related to OpenSC, is a race condition in libusb, which was fixed ages ago by Ludovic Rousseau: http://libusb.org/ticket/56 Do you people at libusb to push this fix? I think a lot of smartcards and tokens are impacted by this bug.
