Hello all,
some of the e-mails, sent as a reply to the "Future of OpenSG" e-mail are also about the question how OpenSG compares to other Scenegraphs (mainly OpenSceneGraph). I don't know OpenSceneGraph but TGS-Inventor and Performer used within the VR-Framework AVANGO, or AVOCADO as it was called earlier.
Currently we are planning to set up a kind of large tiled display and so clearly OpenSG is one of my possible choices to run it. However, there is one thing that I think I would miss at some point in the future, and that are manipulators and draggers. I know that it can be a long discussion if these really should be part of a Scenegraph. May be I am wrong, but I think that a lot of people who visualize something also would like to interact with this something. Integration of manipulators into OpenSG would make it much easier to build some interaktive applications.
But may be there is already something out there and I just don't know about it. Is somebody working on interaction?
Regards,
Bjoern Zehner
