basically the loadable formats depend on what the ImageFileHandler can
load, look into Source/System/Image for he various OSG*ImageFileType
files. Since the VolRen code comes with an example that uses .dat to
describe the volume data and .raw for the actual data, that combination
works ;)

I don't know of any documentation on that code, so you will have to
study the examples to learn how to use it, sorry.
