hm, last time I looked (that was a while ago, though) there was some 
closed source, binary only components involved in loading FBX which I 
found rather discouraging.
FWIW I'm in the process of extending the collada loader to support 
(some) animations and vertex skinning.
Of course that should not discourage anyone from actually writing an FBX 
loader and if they are willing to share their work that would be great 
and highly appreciated :)
