short update, I upgraded ours and 01hello seems to work (the torus comes up), the only difference is, that one has an ATI card, but from my experience hardware behaves more uniformly under OS X, so that should hopefully not matter that much. Only for some tests (csm) I lost the mouse input, not sure why ;(.
