Well, it really depends on your system. I don't know what kind of software
you're using, but I imagine there must be some kind of solution for any OS
that can make automatic backups. Personally, I believe the most useful
investment you can ever make is buying a second harddisk for backups. They
don't need to be oar files, some software will just copy the content of
your harddisk over as it is, so when you need to recover something, you
can just copy over the old files.
That said, I do make OAR backups whenever I'm about to do something
experimental on my sim, or when I'm rearranging.

Thanks, V.
Does this mean I don't need to keep creating oar and r32 files?
Where is all this data stored and how do I restore it if I have to?

Hi,
it depends, on my Mac at home, I'm using Time Machine to make hourly
backups of everything (which includes OpenSim), on my server, I use a
backup script that will make a daily SQL dump and backup certain
directories, then send the backups to a remote server for safe storage.

HI,
Currently I am creating OAR and R32 files as backups. However, as my
regions
grow, it is taking over 2 hours now to restore.
Is there a more efficient way to do this?
