I think the hardest thing to explain to a first time os stand-alone user is how to get the uri into the grid manager after they install the client. So, I like the idea of using sl client with arguments (as in a windows shortcut) pointed at the standalone. But explaining how to put the shortcut arguments in would probably be harder then explaining the grid manager. So, I got me a shareware install creator and used it to package up the installed sl viewer folders into one exe file to include a desktop shortcut with arguments pointing to the install director. Now a person can click on a website link to download and install one file which puts sl client in its default place and also puts a shortcut on the desktop with argument to start sl viewer. This link can be on our wifi page for them to use after they register their account and get their ava name.
It works ok other then takes a long time to install the exe. Is this crazy or a good idea or maybe a violation of how to use the sl viewer? Anyway feed back welcome. Don't be afraid to tell me if this is a crack pot idea. -- View this message in context: http://opensim-users.2152040.n2.nabble.com/toward-a-more-simple-first-time-log-in-tp6639499p6639499.html Sent from the opensim-users mailing list archive at Nabble.com. _______________________________________________ Opensim-users mailing list [email protected] https://lists.berlios.de/mailman/listinfo/opensim-users
