How about a limited "starter account" type - without inventory or the need to use your email address to get started. If a new resident don't sign up completely, the account could be set to be automatically deleted after a certain period of time. Being able to try the simulation before you deploy your credentials is essential.
They could get in, try and decide if they want to continue. The "no iventory" account type could also be the basis for some type of business model for OpenSim Worlds.
