Ubuntu also uses /etc/lynx.*.  You can run
"lynx --cfg=/path/to/lynx.cfg" (or --lss=...) to override the
default paths, but it still probably make sense to change my
proposal to use /etc/lynx/lynx.* for general ease of use.

I'll send out an updated proposal once the issue of the
openssl contract is resolved.  [ Brian, John - any resolution
on this?]
