I think that the exact version number may not necessarily be
architecturally significant in this instance.  As long as the upstream
provider follows a rational numbering scheme, and we're not concerned
with exposed volatile bits that may cause trouble, I think it'd be
appropriate to say "autogen 5.9, or any completely-compatible dot
release with minor version 5.9."
